We each have a gift, a skill, something significant to offer in the fight against the forces that wish us and our community harm. It may seem small, but that gift or skill that we have honed, combined with our faith and God’s presence, means something! So, each week in this season, you’re invited to ask, what can I do, or what can I honor that I’m already doing, to fight against the forces that oppress us? (Maybe it’s calling your senator, maybe it’s volunteering at the food pantry, maybe it’s taking part in a protest, maybe it’s something else entirely that God has prepared you to do, through the gifts God has given you and the opportunities you have had to hone them and share them.) Take a moment, and when you arrive at church, or during the offertory, or on your way up to or back from communion, take a stone and place it in the baptismal font, as a way of remembering that God calls each of us, and all of us together, to “strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being.”
