On Thursday, May 22, at 7 p.m., join us for a Braver Angels “Depolarizing Ourselves” Workshop. Braver Angels is a civic organization that develops educational tools to build bridges between people divided over politics. Braver Angels also partners with religious groups, who use Braver Angels tools in the context of their own religious traditions. For people of faith, civil discourse begins in recognizing the image of God in our conversation partner. Since we are all children of God, our approach should involve mutual respect. Respect—not agreement—is the key to a healthy discussion. This workshop addresses how we may be inadvertently complicit in, or possibly even encourage, polarization in our congregations and our communities. The Interfaith Round Table and the Washtenaw County Braver Angels Alliance invite you and leaders from your faith community to join us for a workshop designed to address political polarization. Once you’ve experienced the workshop, we invite you to consider offering that workshop to your congregation, with support from trained Braver Angels facilitators.
