Greetings Fellow St Clarians,
Your Rector Search Committee would like to give you all a progress report and timeline regarding the search process.

We have had three meetings so far. At the first meeting, we met with Canon Ellen Ekevag from the diocese to review the search process. We also elected Christine Modey co-chair of the search committee. At subsequent meetings, we elected Matt Evett chaplain to the search committee, selected a logistics team to plan candidates’ visits (Tom Rich, Wendy Hatem, and Eliza Nuxoll) and developed a timeline for our work. Based on the parish narrative profile, we have developed a set of criteria to evaluate each candidate’s written materials, as well as a set of interview questions for the candidates.

We are now in the process of reviewing the candidates’ written materials. At our next meeting, we will discuss the candidates’ materials and identify candidates for Zoom interviews. We plan to have the Zoom meetings with the candidates around mid-July.

Following the Zoom interviews, in the month of August, we may decide to send teams of search committee members to visit candidates’ current congregations. We will also invite candidates for in person interviews in Ann Arbor, at which time they’ll also meet with the bishop or the bishop’s representative. Depending upon the speed with which these interviews can be scheduled, we expect to share our recommendation with the vestry in September or October.

We appreciate your understanding the strict confidentiality with which the names and even the number of applicants must be held. If you have questions about the search process, please contact Mac Dick (mac.westway@gmail.com) or Christine Modey (chrismodey@yahoo.com).

We are grateful for your ongoing prayers throughout the search and discernment process.
