Join the 45th Annual Ann Arbor CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday afternoon, October 6. St. Clare’s will again host the event, and the walk will start at our building. Registration begins at 1 p.m.; the walk will be preceded by a brief send-off service at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary, with short addresses by a few local representatives. At the end of the walk, all are invited for some simple nourishments (homemade soup, bread and cookies) in the social hall. We walk to help the hungry; 25% of the raised funds at this year’s event will go to 6 local organizations in Washtenaw County (the participants are asked to bring food and toiletry items to the walk). The remainder of the funds will go towards hunger, disaster and displacement relief efforts worldwide, as well as natural disasters emergency response, and will be distributed through Church World Service. Please see Rachid Hatem or contact him at rhatem@sbcglobal.net to sign up for the walk and receive your fundraising envelope, or to assist with providing food and hospitality for the event (we need 10 volunteers to each prepare a pot of soup to feed 20 people, and 4 additional volunteers to set up, serve and clean up between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m.—volunteer at www.saintclareschurch.org/CROPWalk2019). Thank you in advance for your participation in this worthy community effort!
