Our backpack drive to benefit children through the Neighborhood Peace Center was very successful! We collected 70 backpacks filled with supplies. Thank you all for your generosity.  Katie Oppenheim has been an early and  big supporter of this outreach program this year and last.  She has donated several filled backpacks both years.  She explains why below.

“I don’t have my own children, but I certainly want other people’s children to get a great education as that impacts everyone. As school districts continue to make cuts, teachers are often left on their own to purchase supplies for the children in their classrooms! Additionally, there are many parents who simply cannot afford “the list” that all parents are presented with prior to the start of school. If all of us who have been blessed with plenty fill a backpack or two, it provides something new and practical for the children as well as lessens the burden on the teachers to purchase things. I love this outreach that we do and hope that one day it will not be necessary.”

Again, thanks to all!
