Interfaith Worship and Dinner on July 5, 2016

On Tuesday, July 5, the communities of Temple Beth Emeth, the Niagara Foundation, and St. Clare’s Episcopal Church will join to worship, learn from each other, and share an iftar–a special meal to break the Ramadan fast.

Click here to RSVP. This interfaith worship and dinner celebration of Eid-al-Fitr  marks the end of fasting during the Islamic Holy Month of Ramadan. Starting at 8 p.m., Temple Beth Emeth, St. Clare’s, and the Niagara Foundation will participate together in a Jewish, Christian, and Islamic talk and worship service in the sanctuary. Dr. Rudolph Ware will offer reflections and background regarding Ramadan, fasting and integrating the Qur’an in daily life. The presentation will be followed by a worship service with traditional Jewish, Christian, and Islamic chants and prayers centered around the meaning of fasting in the three Abrahamic faiths. Mr. Kamau Ayubbi, a chaplain at UM hospital with a Sufi background, will be one of the celebrants. A traditional Islamic fast-breaking and a delicious dinner will follow in the social hall starting at 9:15 p.m. There is no cost for the dinner, but please RSVP for food count purposes.
