In 2026, the Equity, Education, and Action Committee (EEAC) embarked on a process of inviting in new members and discerning what God is calling us to do as we Act For Justice. The EEAC decided to (at least temporarily) rebrand under the name Social Justice Ministry. The group remains committed to striving for racial and social justice via educating, working for equity, and taking action. However, “EEAC” was becoming an unwieldy name which didn’t convey the group’s mission to new church members.
Currently the Social Justice Ministry’s primary focus is voting access and election safety. Members are coordinating with nonpartisan organizations to help ensure all eligible voters are able to vote safely and efficiently in Washtenaw County, the State of Michigan, and beyond. Our Social Justice Ministry also helps make the congregation aware of local events related to social justice issues in many topics.
The Social Justice Ministry plans to meet on the second Thursday of each month at 6 PM via Zoom. If you’d like to get involved or you know of an event you think people of St. Clare’s might like to attend, please email Rev. Toby Darrah at revtoby@saintclareschurch.org.
