The Church of the Messiah in Detroit, MI is an unconventional Episcopal church that does so much to help its surrounding community with housing, employment, a bike repair shop, mentorship of young people and support of community organizations for social change. 60% of Messiah’s congregation consists of African American males under the age of 30.

In addition to struggles with a very old church building, Messiah experienced catastrophic flooding during recent rainstorms which damaged and/or destroyed furniture, computer equipment, a newly installed doctor’s office, a kitchen and much more.
