A recent communique from Fr. Romel Eustache (Saint Louis Catholic Church in Mirebalais)
The insecurity created and driven by gangs is creating a great deal of disorder in Haiti. Above all, it creates problems, killing people who are cowardly murdered. It deprives the faithful of Mirebalais and all Mirebalais residents of their homes. Many lose their property and their businesses. It creates poverty again. The city is devastated. The citizens are psychologically and economically ruined. Households are completely decapitalized.
The Haitian government is doing nothing about this situation, which is rather tolerated by the authorities who came to power because of the insecurity. The international community is bargaining. Haitians are being thrown out of their homes and emergency exits are closed. The conspiracy in evil is powerful and understandable even by ordinary Haitians. What should we do? Why is humanity, deprived of humanity, willing to invest billions to destroy and kill instead of creating a climate of peace so that all races and peoples of the Earth, owners of spaces and places, can live as brothers and sisters in peace?
I am launching a strong SOS for financial aid, to you, my brothers, who understand that all humans are born and remain equal in rights, respect, and dignity. Requests for help, food, and money are coming in from all sides from the displaced. They truly need it. When I give something to a family or group, ten others call to ask because they can’t take it anymore.
The second SOS I am launching concerns your advocacy wherever you are and to the extent you can, as did the President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva. Cry out loud to demand justice for these citizens seeking work to achieve a basic standard of living.
