The leaders of the Haiti Outreach Mission are still helping the people of Mirebalais recover from the violent takeover of the town in April of 2025. Fr. Romel and Fr. Alphonse recently sent the following updates.
From Father Romel, August 16, 2026:
Women, elderly people, and especially children have been suffering greatly from hunger and uncertainty. Several families have been depending entirely on the solidarity and compassion of others simply to survive day by day. Please allow me to express my deepest gratitude … to the entire HOM family for your remarkable goodwill, generosity, and humanitarian spirit. Your willingness to help the displaced families from Mirebalais is a true testimony of compassion and Christian solidarity. … your support becomes a source of encouragement and hope for people whose daily lives have become extremely fragile.
From Father Alphonse, August 21, 2026:
It is with deep gratitude that we share with you these few images of the camp that we organize for the children, thanks to the means that you have generously put at our disposal. We are looking for the words to say thank you, but our words seem small in front of the greatness of your gesture. Your generosity is not simply a material aid: it has become a seed of hope deposited in the heart of these children…. you allow children who live in difficult circumstances to find a little joy, brotherhood, security and above all to discover that they are not forgotten.
