The Equity Education & Action Committee (EEAC) will hold a Summer Read this summer, using the book Neither Wolf Nor Dog, by Kent Nerburn.

This book, published in 1994 and updated in 2002, describes Lakota themes, lifestyle, and conflicts experienced by an eighty-some-year-old elder together with his family and friends. This is an enjoyable and light-hearted read despite its potentially heavy subject matter, which deals with racial prejudice, genocide and inability of this respected and aging elder to forgive and forget the pains of his early life and that of his tribe.

Mary Wise and Linda Klimach will hold 4 discussions of the book on Thursday evenings June 22, July 6 & 20, and August 3.  We hope to host this as a hybrid (onsite & online via Zoom), technology willing.  The exact time of the sessions will be decided based on the requirements of those who express an interest.

To participate, please email Linda ( AND Mary ( with your preferred 1.5 hour slot.
