Wednesday, April 13

The Lobby Day needs people to meet with politicians AND people to support those lobbying in a variety of ways. Read on to find the role for you! If you are interested in being a part of a group from St. Clare’s, let Rev. Anne or Linda Klimach know!

From big cities like Detroit to small towns like Oxford, gun violence is impacting all of our communities. Yet, for too long, the legislature has refused to take action to protect our children and communities.

The legislature is now at least discussing gun measures through a task force. End Gun Violence Michigan is hosting a lobby day on April 13 to make sure that the politicians know where we stand. It’s time for them to hear from us about the urgent need for safe storage, universal background checks, and banning guns at government buildings.

Sign up, and you’ll receive training on how to talk about the issues and share your story with your representative. Don’t worry, you won’t be alone either– we’ll match you with a team of leaders to handle the meeting together. We’ll handle logistics and make sure that everyone has a great experience. Training will be held virtually the evening of April 7. (You will receive more information on this after you sign up.) To meet with lawmakers, register here.

For every one person speaking to a member of the legislature, we need another ten people bearing witness as a prayerful presence.
