Discover enslaved people’s acts of resistance through discussion with Smithsonian curators and excerpts of a new Smithsonian Channel series. Smithsonian Magazine is offering a virtual live event on February 28 featuring powerful stories of resistance—moments when enslaved people acted in defiance—that represent an essential chapter in American history. The event includes a discussion with Smithsonian scholars as well as segments of the just-released Smithsonian Channel documentary series, “One Thousand Years of Slavery.” You’ll also have a chance to ask your own questions. CBS News correspondent Errol Barnett will moderate the conversation and pose your queries to our panel of experts.

After viewing the online event, several St. Clarians will gather via Zoom at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 7, to discuss this presentation. All are invited to participate, but there’s homework to do beforehand! Here’s how.
