St. Clare’s and Temple Beth Emeth Volunteer Week at Interfaith Hospitality Network’s Alpha House, 4290 Jackson Rd, Ann Arbor

Fellow congregants, friends and community members, We have another week coming up at Alpha House and it may be a challenging week for us to fill. We start on Monday, September 6, which is Rosh Hashanah so I am making a special request that those of you who do not observe this holiday sign up for the beginning of the week if possible. Monday the 6th is also Labor Day. Ouch. Please reach out to others in your circles that might be interested in helping out. They do not need to be a congregant. Perhaps you know someone that has been wanting to do something in our community and this would be a good match. Please share the sign up genius.

Alpha House is allowing volunteers to come into the facility again, and the current sign up includes the opportunity to come in and serve the meals and for kids activity time in the evening. If you are comfortable volunteering in person, this has been received with so much gratitude by the staff and the families. Keep in mind that anyone over 18 must first get a background check in order to volunteer in person. This is done by Alpha House and is only checking for sexual felonies.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to Rachel Egherman, Bill Feiser, or Alpha House’s Volunteer Coordinator if you have any questions. Our contact information is on the sign up genius. Thank you so much for volunteering in our community. It makes a difference and allows families to move into stable living environments.
