Church School

St. Clare’s has a vibrant Church School.  We invite you to see what God is doing in our midst!  Church School begins at 10:15 a.m. and ends around 11:10 a.m.  At the conclusion of Church School the children process into the 10:30 service and then stay with their families for the rest of church or head home if they attended the 9:00 service.  Please read the description of each class below:

Beginners (3-year –olds through K): This lively group of God’s children is enjoying learning and wondering about our Creator’s love through Godly Play, a Montessori based curriculum. It is a wonderful source of inspiration for all!

1st and 2nd Graders: Living the Good News is a lectionary-based curriculum that explores the readings for each weeks’ worship. Exploring the readings used during worship helps to facilitate discussion at home about what the children are learning. Through activity, discussion, and story, our children are encouraged to embrace Bible stories and relate them to their own lives. This enables children to claim God’s love as their own!

3rd and 4th Graders: Each week the lives of saints are explored by the 3rd and 4th graders as they grow in their faith and service to Jesus. The saints studied include C.S. Lewis, Bach, Elizabeth I and many more. This curriculum, Saints and Heroes, written by St. Clare’s staff, celebrates the reality that we are all saints doing our best to honor our Creator!

5th and 6th Graders: This year our 5th and 6th graders are going through a comprehensive journey through the Bible. Each child is given a study Bible at the beginning of the year to write in and make their own. The I Know My Bible curriculum facilitates a fact study along with a personal response time for each passage. While gaining knowledge of God’s word this group of kids enjoy growing in faith together.
